What is 1Award?
1Award is a click voting award site. (We are not a competition site)
Membership is free and open to all sites. (No pornography, racist, abusive, violent or any other material of an offensive nature)
Web site designers can be rewarded with bronze, silver, gold and platinum level awards by visitors to their sites voting for them. The vote links are on each individual site and not on 1Award.

Can I use my site email address to join 1Award?
No. Please use another active email address.

Why didn't I receive an email with a link allowing votes for my site?
Your email client may be blocking email from 1Award, sending it to your bulk/junk email folder or you may have entered an inactive or site email address when you joined 1Award.
To remedy the problem add 1Award <Awardmaster@1award.co.uk> to your email 'safe' list and check your bulk/junk mail folder. Please make sure you use an active email address. Remember that although most email is instant, it can take a day or two to arrive so be patient. If after a few days you still have not received an email from us Contact Us and we will resend instructions.

Why can't I log in?
Member log in is currently unavailable. We hope to open this area in the future. When it is made available you will be able to change your personal details and site details.

Why do I need a password?
Please make your password something known only to you. Do not give it to other people. When you join 1Award we will email it back to you so you can keep a reminder of it. You will need your password to log in. We use your password and email address to identify who you are should you need to Contact Us to make changes to your personal or site details.

How many sites can I submit?
You may submit as many sites as you want but you must provide a URL for each site and an active email address for us to contact you.

Can I change my personal details or my site URL and description?
When the members log in area is opened you will be able to change your personal details and site URL/description. If you change your site URL or description before this area is open please Contact Us and we will make the changes for you. Duplicate site applications will be removed.

If I change my site URL will I lose my votes?
If your site has been registered at 1award for at least one month and you change your site URL it may be possible for us to transfer your votes to your new site. (e.g. from 1Award.co.uk to 1Award.com) We will only do this if we can verify who you are.
You should rejoin 1Award using your new URL but do not delete your old site from 1Award. Contact Us with details of your site name and new and old URL's along with your email address and 1Award passwords for both accounts.
Once we have checked our records we will either add the votes to your new site or email you that we are unable to verify who you are and that votes will not be transferred. If we transfer votes we will remove your old site from 1Award.
Transfer of votes is at our discretion.

If I change my site name will I lose my votes?
Yes. We cannot transfer votes from a site with one name to a site with a different name. Although members may have more than one site registered with us they are registered as individual sites and are voted for as individual sites. Those votes cannot be put together and added to just one of those sites. (e.g. from 1Award.co.uk to 1Awardfriends.co.uk)

What will happen if my site is inactive?
We reserve the right to remove inactive sites from 1Award at our discretion. If you wish your site to remain registered on 1Award Contact Us with your details and let us know.

Why doesn't my text vote link work?
It's possible that you haven't copied the link correctly. Please check the link from the email we sent you when you joined 1Award.

Why doesn't my picture vote link show on my site?
If you copied the picture from your email and pasted it into your site it will not show. You should save the picture to your computer and upload it to your site.

How many votes are needed for each award?
Our awards are dated yearly, eg. 2005, 2006. Votes are reset to zero at the beginning of each year.
Only this years votes count towards this years awards.
The over all votes are shown for interest only.

10,000 votes - Platinum Award
5,000 votes - Gold Award
2,500 votes - Silver Award
1,000 votes - Bronze Award
300 votes - Pewter Award
100 votes - Copper Award

Do I need to be a member of 1Award to vote for a site?
No. You may vote for any site registered with 1Award that is not a member only site.

Where do I find the links to vote for each site?
You will need to visit each separate site to vote. It's up to each site where they place their vote link.

How many times may I vote?
Each user may vote once per day for every site they wish to vote for.

Why am I told I have already voted today when I try to vote?
1Award web server is based in Germany (GMT + 1hour) The time difference may be causing your problem. If you vote at approximately the same time each day you shouldn't experience this. If you choose to vote at different times each day you should be aware of the different time zones.

Internet service providers (ISP) such as AOL and NTL may use proxy servers. A proxy server allows fast access to web pages for its users by caching pages. Therefore when some users try to vote they may not be able to if another user is on the same proxy server.
ISP may use a NAT router to provide access to the internet. This shares 1 IP address amongst a large group of people. We are unable to allow more than one vote from a shared IP address (the second vote appears to come from the same computer as the original vote).

If you share a connection e.g. wireless, Your router which connects to the internet is also a NAT router. This means only one vote per household is allowed because the votes come from the same IP address.

How are votes counted?
Votes are automatically recorded along with your IP address in our database.(See our privacy policy) If we find irregularities we may adjust votes accordingly and sites may be removed from bronze, silver or gold award links. Sites that cause persistent problems may be removed from 1Award. Our decision is final.
We are aware that no matter what system is in place to make voting fair, there will always be someone who will try to beat the system. We believe that most people want to acheive a 1Award trophy by voting honestly.

Why have my site's votes been reset to zero?
Our awards are dated yearly. All site votes are reset to zero at the beginning of each year and any new votes count towards this years awards. All previous years votes are stored and counted towards your sites overall votes which is displayed when some one votes for your site.

All awards are sent by automated email to the address that you provide us. Please make sure it is an active account and add 1Award <Awardmaster@1award.co.uk> to your email 'safe' list to prevent our email being sent to your bulk/junk email folder.

Why does my site move down the list instead of up?
The newest sites and latest award winners are always added to the top of the lists. This is to make it easier to see that a new site has joined the list.
